The little things

Image
Friday, January 10th, Today I ran in my new kicks And I've decided Newtons are my shoe of choice-   I have the Gravity and Terra and love them both They make me happy   And that got me thinking I've been doing this running thing long enough to know, it's the little things that make a difference Here's my short list: Urban halo head band I use one of these every time I run  It keeps my bangs out of my eyes  Keeps my pesky glasses from bouncing around I use it as an ear warmer in winter   I love the fabric It feels like the softest brushed cotton Like your favorite broken in yoga pants Perfectly stretchy- but stays put I found mine at the TCM expo I need to order more You can find yours HERE Under armour tech tee I literally have clocked thousands of miles in this shirt Run marathons in it Again, it comes down to the softness and ease of movement of the fabric to me ...

The last long run

Image
Thursday march 8th The last long run My chart on my fridge is telling me my work for this half is coming to a close (See my littlest's red post-it-notes?....cheering me on) Decided my shoes will be Brooks Ghosts- (i think) Not really a white person- Yes- I've ranted on this before (dear Asics-I'm not Racist-I just hate white) before sharpie Decided I needed to stop complaining and take matters into my own hands. Sharpie pens work just fine here. Yeah, my 4 year old adores them.... and that gives me pause. But hey, they are definitely not white. after sharpie ***************************************** The run.... The run was interesting . Noticed my runs being described this way as I ramp up to my first half. Interesting because there seems to be a bit of discrepancy as to where my pace is.... Chock that up to newbie training I suppose. One things for sure-Penelope Jane (my garmin) valentine present from m...

Double or Nothing

Got up and headed to Body Combat at Defined Fitness this morning.  Just the name "Body Combat" makes me smirk... I have sooooo much agression waiting to be set free.  I AM a Ninja Warrior- Yeah right!  I am so lying- and NO, you do not want to conjure up a mental picture of me 'street brawling'.  Takes alot of focus for me to even TRY looking tough-HA! But today all I could focus on was the clock.  I really wanted to get a run in. I snuck out at 6~it was a double or nothing day. Off I ran, my first push at the clock- My goal: to be under 14- (for those of you who may be new to my blog, I am such a beginner at the whole running thing... been training for a little over 10 weeks--- just ran my first 13.1--- but laughably SLOW) I started off well enough, felt like it anyway, 'til endomondo told me I'd reached mile 1 in 15.18- UGH~ Really?  I'd even forgone my little walk, wog, jog thingy that I always do- But then I remembered I hadn...

Trial Run

Image
Oh the worry of a new shoe purchase- You'd better not so much as take a pinky toe step on anything but carpet before you decide wether or not to keep those puppies- But how will you know they 'work' until you do just that. All day long yesterday I wore my new Brooks Cascadias , trying to get an idea of how they would remotely feel on a run. I even secretly planned an early morning date with a treadmill- just to be sure. But as the day wound down, something inside me wound up really wanting to do a trial run. I knew they would work- couldn't wait- Trying to get the kids situated for bed proved almost impossible. I kept whispering, "let's try to hurry, mommy wants to do a quick run"- thinking surely that would motivate them- HAHA My sweet honey, Ryan, must have heard the desperation in my voice, as I whispered in the other room, trying not to disturb him as he studied and worked, because out of nowhere he told me to go and hurry back. ...

The Glass Slipper

Image
Yesterday I was feeling like the ugly step sister- Went with Clare and Jen to try on my 'lust list' shoes, only to find that the 'glass slipper' didn't fit- At first I thought it was because I was rushed, perhaps I'd tried on the wrong size-so I went back- Nope- they just don't fit- I was crushed- every Cinderella in the world would be wearing MY shoe, but me. I actually had a pity party that went like this: Naw---- I'll spare you- But today, the most fabulous thing happened- Got a text from Tennille: When r u going to Brown's? Want to meet there and have coffee? Tennille is the most amazing- -Accomplished violinist -Wonderful teacher -Runner!!!!!! Back to Brown's- the shoe quest continues- Can I just say, there is nothing like staying local for important things like- hmmmmm Coffee-Today (compliments of Tennille) was Andrea Christina's Chi Latte iced! (I'm actually dying to take my honey Ryan there...
