got a run in - I'm the luckiest girl ever

Image
Friday, March 30th Today I can finally say I went for a run. Chart said 6, but it ended up about 5.24 That's OK with me, considering the track record I've had (read about this weeks track debacles if you haven't already- here and here ) BlueSkyGirl had mentioned that we needed to get together for a run- Wrestling meets have wreaked havoc with me joining in on the group runs the girls take on Saturday mornings, so a Friday run was in order. We'd meet at Lions Wilderness- And hope to not get towed like almost happened last time I thought it would be fun to last minute text ViolinRunning to join us too- Although she's right in the thick of marathon training, she said she'd join us, and throw in some speed at the end to meet her daily mile/training goals. It was a Mary Poppins day- "Practically perfect in every way" My only complaint- We were running the park 'backwards' Running it uphill First round felt fine

Tennyson for a Wicked Run-

There are days when it takes your most valiant effort to get a run in. You feel like a warrior- pushing through the noise of battle Changing course to make the run a success Tonight was like that. It started off innocently enough, wrestling practice... Sis-in-law's game for a track run I'm thrilled to get a run in... But when we get to the high school- I'm greeted by crowds cheering Seems the track is off limits today, on account of a track meet. I have a fleeting thought to join them in a quick jaunt around- but think better of it. That would perhaps be far more taboo than shimmying through a locked gate. Sis-in-law, RunningMamaOf2 joins me- We are undeterred from our quest for a run. Our next plan takes us to the baseball field opposite the track. I joke how trail runs seem all the rage, and that running on the grassy baseball field would give us a taste of the it. But as we begin to run, a baseball team floods the field for sprints.

breaking and entering- cause I've got Yassos to do!

Monday, March 26th No run this morning. How does that happen? Well, for starters, Molls seemed on the sick side of things the whole weekend.... So- Knowing the rest of my week was a bust, I decided to preemptively bring her in to the good Doc today... Yep, you guessed it- Nothing but the common cold..... for now--- Do they offer a 7 day refund on that visit- should symptoms persist? Oh well, good mommy points for me. I really wanted to text BlueSkyGirl to see if she wanted to run trails with me, now that she has her fabulous BLUE Brooks Cascadias.... Wait a minute---- hmmmm she just got the BLUE bottomed Pure Flows..... Now Blue cascadias...... Just huge PR'd her Moab half----- Wait for it- Wait for it- Is she working on superhero powers and a loop costume? (I'll do some sluething and keep you posted) Trail run scratched- Preemptive Dr appointment substituted- The rest of the day was a scheduled blurr. Now it's 5:30ish- I'm driving home

Looking ahead- 29 weeks of training- who's with me!

Today is Monday,  March 26th Been a little bit silent these last few days. Posts have been swirling around in my mind...just couldn't get them down I find that along with racing highs I also get post race lows. Nothing scare worthy- just a bit of the post race blues I wanted to rant about the hard parts of my Moab half But a week, and a few runs later, and I'm over it. But I would be remiss if I didn't show you the BEST of my running photos from that race. Random gal in the blue is what I envisioned I looked like.... I'm in the green. Bwahahaha! What I think I look like when I run What I really look like when I run~ Gotta work on my Bangle ! (for those of you reading this on my blogger site---you have to click on Bangle and read his Boston Qualify post about the LA marathon--He's the master at making it look good! Even made it into a promo video  click on the video link and see him at about 2:45)   Looking at my ra

First 'post-half' Run- A perspective

Tuesday, March 20th Today I ran for the first time after my first 1/2 marathon, just two short days ago. I remember on Saturday, after finishing, feeling the fatigue, and wondering how long it would take me to recover. I had planned a week 'off' thinking to walk some daily miles to pass the time. But yesterday, as I photo copied my next training schedule- the butterflies in my stomach told me this renewed excitement for the sport should be put to good use. Berg Park it would be. I should have worn my Cascadias, but found myself grabbing my Ghosts. I knew they'd feel honored I chose them again, after the hard work they helped me do on Saturday. I slip them on, They feel tired- but there is an unspoken camaraderie between us now. It feels good. Jeep parked- Warmup walk to the running path. The park has a chill about it. I chide myself for wearing short sleeves, and begin a motherly conversation about proper weather dressing. And then I run- It fe

Anybody can!- My first half marathon-Moab

This weekend I discovered something. Anybody can run a half marathon road race....Anybody 'Cause I just did. Although Friday morning when I woke up, I thought for sure I'd made a terrible mistake. second guessing myself Was I really a few hours away from running in a ' real ' race - with T-shirts and numbers? Wasn't I the race snob, who thought "what's the point of paying to run?" Then I remembered my DH the night before, catching up with an old college friend, and randomly letting it 'slip' that his wife was running a half marathon that weekend.... "isn't she crazy!" Smile- Or that night when hubby told me- "I'm so proud of you..." Melt- I could run for that..... Kids were even in on the excitement. How could I not run with all that cheering and good will going on. Kids crazy "good luck" photo! The day slipped by, And soon my sis-in-law RunningMamaOf2 Cam

Liebster blog awards

Image
My Friend Pam, at boomerbackbeat.com was so sweet to pass along a Liebster award to me the other day. Thanks Pam! boomerbackbeat.com The Liebster Blog Award originated in Germany. Liebster means dearest or beloved, and Liebe is love. To me, the essence of this award is to encourage bloggers, with a little pat on the back- and allow them to, in turn, share some of their favorite blogs too. Blogs should be ones that are newer, with smaller following--- But- I just have to share my favorites without regard to size- Please forgive me if this is taboo! Favorite blogs: My first blog for today is from a fellow high school classmate My Minnesota Jenny has found herself in India!- thanks to her hubby's work transferring him there. I HANDS DOWN LOVE EACH POST! You will too---- Jennyfromthebangaloreblock.blogspot.com   Next up- Run Street Runstreet.com This blog is a fun one. Marnie does a great job posting workout ideas for your run, as well as cross traini

The last long run

Thursday march 8th The last long run My chart on my fridge is telling me my work for this half is coming to a close (See my littlest's red post-it-notes?....cheering me on) Decided my shoes will be Brooks Ghosts- (i think) Not really a white person- Yes- I've ranted on this before (dear Asics-I'm not Racist-I just hate white) before sharpie Decided I needed to stop complaining and take matters into my own hands. Sharpie pens work just fine here. Yeah, my 4 year old adores them.... and that gives me pause. But hey, they are definitely not white. after sharpie ***************************************** The run.... The run was interesting . Noticed my runs being described this way as I ramp up to my first half. Interesting because there seems to be a bit of discrepancy as to where my pace is.... Chock that up to newbie training I suppose. One things for sure-Penelope Jane (my garmin) valentine present from m
